Before Lamp-Shire, I spent three years living in Germany as part of an Air Force family. Later, I lived in Romania for three years while serving as a medical missionary and humanitarian worker.
Those chapters gave me lasting familiarity with cultures, languages, and the practical art of shaping an itinerary. In support of the work in Romania, I traveled extensively through Central and Western Europe, particularly the United Kingdom.
Oxford remains a personal favorite: a place of old colleges, layered history, and the world of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Their fiction helped inspire the Lamp-Shire name, a small signal of the wonder that travel can still hold.
